Neymar Will Face Trial For Fraud

Barcelona forward, Neymar Junior will face trial in Spain over alleged transfer irregularities relating to his transfer to Barcelona three years ago.

Neymar’s teammate, Lionel Messi and his father Jorge is also standing trial at a Spanish court on allegations of tax fraud after prosecutors claim that he set up shell companies to avoid taxes on income from image rights.

Neymar and his father are facing up to two years in prison if they’re found guilty of the charges leveled against them. The primary allegations involve lying about Neymar’s transfer fee from Santos in 2013 in order to pay the Brazilian club a smaller compensation than they were legally entitled to.

Barcelona’s former President Sandro Rosell is also a party to the case and has denied all wrong doing in what has become one of the most contested football transfers in recent times.
